Would it be a good idea to have a megathread for teams for the god event?
By - DragonAceReborn
It wouldn't matter because the megathreads get ignored anyway.
I would much rather use such a megathread than scroll trough posts and having to open every post to see which teams are in them to atempt the fight with teams that I got units for.
It's one time I feel like megathreads just make sense.
If it's organized,if it's just everyone posting their shit everywhere without any order then it wouldnt be good either.
That's the point I am trying to make.
Most people who need help with teams wouldn't use the mega thread. They would just make a post anyway.
So it would be a waste to have a mega thread because they aren't going to use it.
A lot of people sort through new and that doesn't show the pinned posts.
For me reddit always starts at hot which shows the top pinned posts.
If there was a title GOD EVENT TEAMS or something similar I would check it out if I was looking for it.
If you could see images without clicking on the separate topics outside the megathreads then yes I agree people wouldnt care but rn you have to click.
Why are you against it though?
It's like you dont want to even give a shot to this.
It's not like it would cost the mods,us or anyone something to have a pinned topic about the event.
Not everyone sorts by hot or top. There are a lot of people who sort by new and sorting by new doesn't show pinned posts. I already said that, but make sure to read it twice this time.
I am mostly against it because 9 times out of 10,(at least in my experience) people ignore the mega threads. If mega threads weren't ignored and were used for the proper purpose that they are titled for, we would see more of them already because that would mean they work. As it sits right now, they don't.
People would much rather make a post either asking for a team or showing off the team that they ran, so having a mega thread for it would just be redundant.
I didnt know you could change in settings to always start from new.
That said if something is pinned why doesnt it appear on the top of every sorting?
That's the whole point of pinning something,to make sure it's always the first thing people see.
That aside which is a problem I agree the thing that I propose is nothing like megathreads in the past.
Megathreads in the past were done exclusively to stop people from spamming the subreddit with posts(for example pull posts, asking for information etc).
While this one actually makes it easier to find what you are looking for.
And nothing is stopping a person from asking questions and teambuilding options under the posted image of a team under such a thread.
Maybe this is a thing to be added as a standard thing for the teambuilding megathread although I feel like with that aka if we put it in there it wont be visible enough and it wont work at all like every other megathread they attempted so far.
>added as a standard thing for the teambuilding megathread
Hahahaha, the last team building megathreads was posted more than half a year ago and had no comments, here's the last pulls/memes/art megathreads DURING a massive celebration, one comment
The type of megathreads you want don't work and aren't useful to those who need them
You are comparing 2 different things imho and the type of megathread I am proposing is not about removing such posts but rather to be a place where you could look for various teams for a specific event/enemy rather than having to scroll and click on every image team post for said event.
It's much quicker to just have a list of teams that are specific for what one is looking for and having a megathread for it would imho be a good place to start and the only issue is that the pinned topics dont show on every sorting in reddit cuz reddit is dumb.
The formating would be something like this.
Pinned topic title - GOD EVENT TEAMS
Then you would have a start comment for each boss.
Beerus teams(they could even include what the boss does - imune t xyz, multiple atks etc alongside it)
And then everyone would respond with their teams under the specific boss they used the team on and potentially a bit of their tactic like rotations, items usage...
But it wont work unless the mods insert several teams right away for each boss and pin the megathread.
That's why pulls died, that's why memes outside friday died etc.
Idk how active team building megathread is but to me I always feared I would ask a question in there and nobody would answer.
>Idk how active team building megathread is but to me I always feared I would ask a question in there and nobody would answer.
That was my point by posting the other thread, that was the most recent non banner/cb megathread, the team building ones ended a month before that with 0 comments, people dont use megathreads that way
>rather to be a place where you could look for various teams for a specific event/enemy rather than having to scroll and click on every image team post for said event.
Yeah no, i honestly dont see any difference between clicking on a thread and searching 'beerus' and going to the subreddit and searching 'beerus'. The only difference is your thread requires another click and cant be sorted as accurately as the default search. Its not easier for people looking for help and even if the mods spent weeks shepherding ALL the god posts to a single thread it would still have less interaction and discussion than each individual post
I feel like you are arguing that this is a good idea, while it may seem that way to you, its not, and what everyone is trying to point out to you is: this isnt a new idea, mods have tried similar things and it doesnt work.
\>The formating would be something like this.
That format is the exact format of the old megethreads that didnt work, again not a new idea, I dont know why you are spending so much time explaining it
People make this post every time something requiring team building comes out, new esbr stages? cue the "the sub is flooded with team posts" posts. In a month only interesting teams will be upvoted until then there will be a lot of god posts and thats fine.
\>That's why pulls died, that's why memes outside friday died etc.
No, they died because that format is unintuitive and its only goal was to limit flooding the subreddit and it failed at that too
And finally a few other things: other people have suggested discord which is actually built for the format you are describing but no one is going to leave the site to ask a question, the tactics thread on the wiki could be that as well but again most god stages only have one or two teams, and any suggestion you make that starts with "all the mods have to do is \_\_\_\_\_\_\_" everyone stops paying attention, the mods arent paid, they leave the sub unregulated for hours at the time, they arent going to spend a bunch of time relegating a specific type of post to a specific thread to solve a 'problem' thats only going to be around for two more weeks
I feel like you can answer with an equally long post going point for point but ive pointed out what I wanted to say. Either stop wasting your time arguing for a good idea others have had, tried, and failed at or at least realize thats what you are doing
Pulls, fanart, memes and similar topics have a different motivation than a overall megathread that contains info about the boss and images of teams that people used to beat it.
So no it hasnt been tried yet and the motivation at least from my side is not wow team posts are annoying lets shove them into a megathread but rather the teams are all over the place and I have a tough time finding lots of teams for a specific enemy so lets put them in the same place and sort so that it's easier to find a team that works out for me or any other individual.
You have to click each post at least twice to see the image.
With a megathread I could open 5 different images in separate tabs and check out each team individually.
There are some posts that combine all the bosses they beaten slowing down the hunt for specific boss team info.
The reason why mods should post some teams is to create the incentive for others to follow their lead and post their teams.
5 per boss is an alright number and that''s all the mods would do.
If the thing works out then we could have other megathreads as well of the same type.
And tbh I dont think we,mods etc will lose anything if they atempted this.
It's a perfect time to do so.
The biggest issue of this subreddit is that it doesnt offer much outside big celebrations so there is mostly 2k people online a day.
If it was a good place to find teams that would add more desireability to it.
You can disagree with me of course.
I don't think it is a specific setting that you can SAVE, but if you sort by new and bookmark the page, whenever you go to the page from that bookmark, it will always be at sorting by new, because that is what the bookmarked page is set to.
Also something to note, lot of people (including myself) use mobile reddit as their preferred reddit. I'm in like 15 subs, so sorting by new allows me to keep up with everything coming into all of these reddits.
If I need to find something specific, I'll go to the sub page and it can be sorted by hot or new and that's where I can see the megathreads but, if a bunch of people are using mobile it probably won't be the case since at least I feel they'll set it just like I have it.
Interesting, but there is also the option in the reddit settings to change it.
Although again pinned posts should always be on the top and idk why they arent.
They "Should", but the whole point of sorting by new is to see new posts first. As far as I know (using new reddit) it has always been like that.
For me it was in hot since the beginning and this isnt my first account.
So yeah I think the default is hot.
Still,I feel like it could work if the mods open the topic, pin it and post bunch of teams people posted already in it sorted by bosses.
Once people experience an actual good an useful megathread they would prob use it.
Or at least I hope.
What's the point of megathreads when mods don't even set it to new by default anymore, anyone trying to use a megathread clicks it sees the top comments says 'posted 8 days ago' and click off
Megathreads kinda suck in general
It's nice to have a single place for GoD event teams, but I don't think it's necessary to put it in a megathread or something.
I wouldn't agree with removing team posts either so putting them in a megathread wouldn't be that useful. Only posts that truly drown out important news should be limited in my eyes (like memes).
What I think would be a nice thing for this sub to add is either a database or Docs document with the optimal HiPo system for every character.
Good idea but also need good execution to be effective, mods really need to emphasize the rule and keep deleting team post otherwise people will just ignore the megathread.
For me i personally agree
I feel like if the mods go around the topics and post the teams there and people see lots of teams in one place there is a lot more chance for people to actually start posting in there their teams.
And once such a megathread works we could have one for sbr, esb, lge modes etc.
It would be so great to have a central place where one can see god event teams.
